Гипотеза, суть которой заключается в том, что разница между номинальными процентными ставками, выраженными в валюте двух стран, равняется разнице между ожидаемыми уровнями инфляции этих стран. Например, если инвесторы в Великобритании ожидают, что курс доллара США будет повышаться на 5% в год по отношению к фунту стерлингов, они, чтобы компенсировать ожидаемое изменение паритета двух валют, согласятся на годовой доход ниже 5% по долларовым ценным бумагам по сравнению с доходом, который можно получить с таких же инвестиций в фунтах стерлингов. С точки зрения заемщика, если он учитывает эффект Фишера (см. Fisher effect), стоимость равнозначных займов в разных валютах одинакова вне зависимости от процентной ставки. См.
